Summit, Short Hills, Chatham and Westfield – Where to See the Fireworks

Millburn Short Hills Fourth of JulyHow will you be spending the Fourth? If you live in a NJ Midtown Direct town there is plenty to do. Here’s a short rundown of each town’s firework celebrations with times and ticket info.

Millburn-Short Hills NJ

Activities including amusement rides, pony rides, duck races and face painting will take place at Taylor Park at Main Street and Ridgewood Road Wednesday from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., Gates will open again at 7 p.m. at the Millburn High School for DJ and fireworks at dusk. Summit NJ

The evenings concert and grand fireworks display begins with the fabulous “Cameos” in concert beginning at 7:45p.m. followed by the best fireworks display in the region at 9:15p.m.. The fireworks are provided by Garden State Fireworks, the long standing provider for this show. Ashland Road closes to traffic at 6p.m.. Residents and guests are urged to arrive early for the festivities and enjoy the concert. Snacks are available for sale and you are welcome to bring along a picnic. This is an alcohol free event. In case of rain, the Fireworks Display will be held the next clear night at Soldier’s Memorial Field, Ashland Road, Summit. For up to the minute information call 908-277-2932 or www.cityofsummit.org

Chatham NJ

Fireworks will begin after sunset, which will be at 8:31 p.m. Wednesday. Gates will open for the fireworks display at 7 p.m., with entertainment beginning at 7:30 p.m. Fireworks at the middle school will begin at dusk, chathamborough.org or (973) 635-7006.

Westfield NJ

The Westfield NJ Community Band will be joined by the Sons and Daughters of the American Revolution in a salute to America’s musical heritage, Thursday at 7:30 p.m. at Mindowaskin Park, East Broad Street and Park Drive. westfieldtoday.com or (908) 789-4080. And of course there is plenty of Jazz to enjoy in Westfield. The 16th Anniversary of Sweet Sounds of Jazz Festival kicks off on July 3, and will run every Tuesday until August 28.
(Venues include Westfield’s Central Avenue, in front of the train station, at the intersection of East Broad and Prospect Streets, and in front of the Baptist Church on Elm).
